Updated: Jun' 15/1999: Forenoon NEWS: Wabbits are no more Indians but Asians - Grexers. Wabbits has been derived from Rabbits - nharmon Dhirajb leaves the Grex hurt and injured. Dear Grexers and Wabbits, There are perhaps two classes I need to address to cover all the people who logon to grex for not one but many reasons. This is one debate that has gone pretty far and has hurt the sentiments of us Wabbits. I hope this page will try and remove the "Wabbit complex" that has developed in the Western Hemisphere. I also hope that Grex & Co. will realse that there is a need to make a conversation before making a comment. I hope that both the Grexers and the Wabbits will make some changes in their Virtual charecter and learn to coexist at grex. [Q] Why did they call us Wabbits? Every society immaterial of how forward and advance it is, has classified its people on the basis of several factors - color, language, lifestyle, income, origin, etc. Grex too is a community, if anything a virtual community, and here the factors to distinguish a person are far lesser. So, one identifies the other person by - .plan, language, server logged on from, duration of visit, quality of chat, etc. Here comes the difference, an American, Romanian, British, Australian, French, Canadian, Indian, Pakistani, Indonasian, etc. Hence, here is derived a classism from the previous features, how does an American look? How forward is his/her society? What are the facilities available to him/her? And then begins the one-to-one mapping and so is derived a logic: Indians [please read Wabbits] are Dark Skinned, Poor, Have a minimal knowledge of English [but forget that we created Sanskrit: the mother]. Then comes the simulation: How would this person look like? Oh! gosh... ugly, weird, dirty, etc. Hence, a word needs to be coined to address him/her: WABBIT. Aptly defined... So be it. Yes! we never contributed to the Grex financially, but that is no reason to be classified as a lower being. A Wabbit. Give us a chance, we too are capable of working hand-in-hand with you. We too given a chance, will contribute to the community. Every Asian is not bad, he/she is not ugly, he/she is not weird, he/she is not dirty. It is only the impression you carry in your mind. Remove it. Perhaps "Once a Wabbit, always a Wabbit." :) | ||||||||||||||||

This is the most difficult part: Stop aping the West. We have a culture which dated back to 5000 years. We have our own identity. Please don't loose it. Please understand that this too is a society and whatever you do and speak is never lost. Would you behave in this particular way if you met another person "Real Time". [Q] Would you do what dhana.txt says we did? Perhaps not! [Q] Then why behave like that here? You know that the person across at another terminal cannot see you. So you misbehave. Use foul language, and get away each time, just because you know that you are sure that you will not be Penalized. It is always at the back of your mind that you will never logon as the same person again. This only shows that you really don't have an identity here and don't really care to establish yourself as one in "Real Time". This is only a reflection of what you are in the real society. [Q] Are you there Cyberdude? What if she were your own sister across in the US. What if both had not contacted each other to exchange your logids? Would you have done what you just did? And what if she had forwarded that mail to your parents? Ah! you have an answer, I'm sure, you will escape this situation. I'm sure you all realise what I want to say. Please derive the rest from what has been discussed and try to behave at grex the next time onwards. Nobody wants to be called a "WABBIT" I'm sure you too will not like to be called that. I wish you all luck and hope that there will be a change in future. We need to set examples and follow a few rules.
